Prostheses…..
Israeli designer Tomer Sapir has designed this amazing light fixture using dried leaves, steel poles, soil, concrete, wool and LEDs. I loved the designer’s concept, which is a topic of conversations I often have with myself - he wants the lighting to draw attention to the moment between life and death; the autumn leaves, which have been gathered from the ground, are briefly illuminated after the leaf is detached from the tree but before they dry and crumble away. These leaves are in a state of suspended life after the cessation of all essential functions, in a grey area between life and death. The name for the product – Prostheses- is so apt…..
