What “TYPE” is Your Sky?

Posted in architecture, photography with tags , , on August 9, 2008 by anonimiss

Type the Sky by Lisa Rienermann is an alphabet formed of shapes buildings make against the sky when photographed from below. “It began with the Q,” she says. “I was in a kind of courtyard in Barcelona. I looked upward and saw houses, the blue sky and clouds. The more I looked, I saw that the houses formed a letter Q.”

Loved it!!

Enlightened Numbers

I liked this simple paper-cut-out number lamp – The Memento Lamp- designed by Hiroshi Yoneya and Yumi Masuko. I think the Japanese have ‘zen’ totally embeded into their design sensibilities. Simple, elegant, minimalist…..though its definitely not as simple as it looks to actually make this piece! Really cool.

Vitamin G

Is there a vitamin G? While I confess I do not really know, what I know is that the vitamin packages designed by Robert Ferrell surely made me look twice. The design, which has been developed with a keen eye on ‘typographic hierarchy and the 3D form’ as the designer says, is all the more brilliant due to its simplicity. Take a real close look at the pictures to appreciate the detailing. He sure has had his dose of Vitamin ‘G’!
